Let's Play: A Midsummer Night's Dream
by William Shakespeare
adapted by Thomas R. Gordon
A Magical Game of Love & Inspiration
Do you want to play a game? Well Shakespeare's faeries and mystical creatures are upset because last year The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company only produced one show and it wasn’t even a comedy! To make up for this, they are magically forcing four of mortal actors from NYC to play a chaotic game where they must perform the roles of the Four Lovers and the Rude Mechanicals from “A Midsummer Night’s Dreamâ€! It will be a night of theatrical chaos full of music, laughter and dance! Come have fun as an audience of magical creature’s plays with a group of foolish mortal performers! Please join The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company as we lovingly tear apart this timeless classic searching for romantic love while also trying to appease all things magical!

About the Company: The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company
Mission
The primary goal of The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company is to create theatre with sound. Any and all types of sound! Whether it is music, noise or symphony of emotions pouring from an actor’s soul we aim to create theatre that must be heard to really be seen!
Our second goal is to use sound and technology to help push the boundaries of what live theatre can do. We aim to carry on the Off Off Broadway tradition of pushing boundaries and experimentation!
The third and most important goal of The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company is to create theatre that fights for a positive view of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation and “the underdogâ€. We don’t want our audience to just talk about what they heard after one of our shows. We want them to think about how they can make a difference in the world! We hope that our stories and our words cause action in the real world!

"A Raucous Satire of Media & Pop Culture"
Looking for a little rest and time to herself, Betty rents a summer share at the beach. But Betty’s luck turns to delicious lunacy when this sensible Everywoman gets drawn into the chaotic world of some very unsavory housemates – her friend Trudy who talks too much; the lewd, seminaked Buck, who tries to have sex with everyone; and Keith, a possible serial killer who hides in his room with a mysterious hat box. With sand between her toes, walking a thin line between sanity and survival, poor Betty will leave her summer vacation more terrorized than tan.

About the Company: Wheelhouse Theater Company
At WHEELHOUSE, we are proud to be an ensemble driven by a collective inquiry and curiosity that deepens our sense of trust and abandon, which allows our audience to delight in the risks that are complicit in the telling of bold stories. Born from a shared enthusiasm for playful collaboration, we are a company of theater artists committed to producing joyful, transformative and highly physical productions. In addition, the Wheelhouse serves as an artistic home base for company members to return and rejuvenate.
Produced by Retro Productions
The cast features Wynne Anders (Off-Broadway Claymont/Emerging Artists Theatre), Christopher Borg (Charles Busch's Judith of Bethulia/Theatre for the New City), Heather E. Cunningham (NYIT Award for Best Actress in An Appeal To The Woman Of The House/Retro), Rebecca Holt (Broadway How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying with Matthew Broderick and Megan Mullally), Amanda Jones (Off-Broadway Candida/Jean Cocteau Repertory), Sean J. Moran (Widows directed by Hal Brooks at 59E59), and Sara Thigpen (NYIT Award for Best Actress in Burning the old Man Jo/Boomerang Theatre).
About the Company: Retro Productions
It is the mission of Retro Productions to present works of retro theatre. Retro is defined as "involving, relating to, or reminiscent of things past (American Heritage Dictionary)." At Retro Productions we will strive to tell good theatrical stories which have an historical perspective -with an emphasis on the 20th century- in order to broaden our own understanding of the world we live in. We believe through stories of human lives and struggles, both dramatic and comedic, we can understand social history and culture and how it affects us today.
Retro received recognition from their first two productions of Catholic School Girls and Mrs. California (as River Heights Productions) then gathered momentum in their third season with the Retro production of Still Life. Also directed by Ric Sechrest, Still Life received accolades from playwright Emily Mann: "Your production got it...Every aspect of the experience was first rate. Retro is clearly a company dedicated to creating impeccable work that truly matters," and Heather E. Cunningham's performance was honored alongside Romeo and Juliet’s Lauren Ambrose and August: Osage County’s Deanna Dunagan as one of Backstage's ‘2007 Performances to Remember’.
Retro Productions put themselves on the map in their fourth season producing Sally Nemeth's Mill Fire and What I Did Last Summer, called "...first-rate: brisk, sweet and occasionally quite moving," by playwright A.R. Gurney. This, their first season in residence at The Spoon Theater, garnered six 2008 New York Innovative Theatre Award nominations: two for performance and four for design, a New York Magazine ‘Off-off Broadway pick’ and the growing reputation of ‘the finished effect of a Retro Production’ (The Fab Marquee, Mill Fire). Kicking off with The Tender Trap and concluding with When You Comin’ Back Red Ryder? Retro's fifth season is proving that with a design team that has the ability to achieve 'theatrical time travel,' (The Fab Marquee) and "a powerful display of New York's dramatic talent," (offoffonline) Retro Productions is “...becoming a reliable source for first-class work.” (United Stages).

About the Company: The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company
The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company was formed to serve as a safe space for anyone who works in the arts, and considers themselves and to be an underdog, a misfit or just misunderstood. Quite often, many of these artists will have grand ideas, yet remain too apprehensive or afraid to express them. We at The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company wish to change this. Our goal is to promote ideas and performances that otherwise might not have been done for one reason or another or that have seemed just out of reach before. From doing a classic piece of theatre to experimenting with new possibilities in performance art, nothing is too big or too small for The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company. We are dedicated to producing the show that was always in someone's imagination! For instance, if you have ever had an idea at a party late at night, but you think no one would be interested, The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company would probably be interested. Our hope is that The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company will regularly serve as a catalyst for new idea's and possibilities.

synopsis
At last, the story of THE ORANGE PERSON, told from the perspective of the people who actually experienced it - a celebration of existence, of difference, and of song. From Terlingua, the infamous "ghost town" of the rural southwest Texan desert, a family confronts a medical marvel: an orange baby is born.

TWO DAYS 'TIL DAWN
Written by Tyler Ham Pong
Directed by Laura Sisskin-Fernández
"The line between inspiration and insanity."
Two Days 'til Dawn follows a troubled writer, who risks his grasp on reality in search of inspiration. Disconnecting from his family, and with potetially more at stake, he seeks salvation through the advice given by the ghosts of three literary figures.
Continuing Tyler Ham Pong's trend of hyper aware dialogue and analysis of the human condition, Two Days 'til Dawn, is "not only an expression of art as life, but a presentation of art created in life," according to the director, Laura Sisskin-Fernández. Harnessing elements of dream, memory and all of life's promises -- this play is a psychological tour de force not to be missed!
Two Days 'til Dawn stars Anthony Ames, Mary Monahan, Geoffrey Pomeroy and Jillian K. Waters.
Costume Designer/Assistant Director is Crys Huyett. Lighting Designers are Tracy Wertheimer and Jane Slade. Sound Designer is Danny Madden. Choreographer is Bronwen Carson.
Two Days 'til Dawn will have its premiere on June 8, presented as part of the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity at the Gene Frankel Theatre.

Benefiting amfAR, Leo Rising Productions is pleased to present FINDING ELIZABETH TAYLOR, a multi-media homage to La Liz written and performed by Elizabeth Claire Taylor* as part of the 3rd Annual Planet Connections Theatre Festivity. The production will be held at The Gene Frankel Theater, 24 Bond Street, NYC, 10003 for six performances from June 15-25, 2011. Morgan Gould directs.AEA Approved Showcase. *Member, Actors’ Equity Association.
What does it feel like to be the most beautiful woman in the world? THIS Elizabeth Taylor certainly doesn't know. Between skinny blond roommates, monstrous treadmills and an infamous pair of ill-fitting Bongo jeans, it's a wonder she can make it to her Overeaters Anonymous meeting on time. Channeling her celebrity namesake while on a journey of self-acceptance, will Elizabeth Claire Taylor ever find her true self because of, and despite, a legendary name?
“I had always heard of Elizabeth Taylor's commitment to AIDS research and diligent activism, but this was in the present looking back – it was only when I read a ton of biographies did I grasp how bold it was for her to speak out in the 1980's – when celebrity activism was unheard of, particularly in regards to something as taboo and shrouded in stigma as AIDS. When I realized the through-line of my solo play, Finding Elizabeth Taylor, was a call to arms for young women to refute the corporate blitz on their bodies and minds, I saw the link. I want to look back on my life and believe I did the best I could with the gift I was given. And my gift is my name.”

"at Sixes & Sevens"
Sixes and Sevens- an idiom to describe a state of confusion or disarray.
The creation of “at Sixes & Sevens” started with the concept of self-realization. Using the archetype of a 1950s housewife, just left by her husband, Ms. Kernaghan and her dance ensemble deconstruct the process in which each of us continue to define and redefine ourselves: Asking the question, do we really shape ourselves or does the world do it for us. As realities and worlds start to shift, the character, and audience loose track of what is real and what is not. In this murky existence is where raw impulsive movement will start to explore the real composition of this woman--who she really is, how to identify her, and what is she in the world when her reason to live leaves her...

Marcus Lloyd's script Dead Certain has been called "a delicious four-dimensional pretzel." When asked in an interview about writing Dead Certain, Marcus Lloyd replies with a question. "How much control do we have over our lives?" he ponders. "Are we following some script out there, or do we have some control?
Not surprising that Lloyd questions our ability to control our known universe. In addition to writing for both the large and small screens as well as the stage Marcus Lloyd studied physics at Oxford University. Question about the reality of our perceived surroundings are second nature to him. This is clearly illustrated in Dead Certain where truth and illusion become almost inseparably entangled in a real life game of cat a mouse.

During the course of the play, Milton ages from 17 to 40, as we see the many men that he sleeps with and learns from along the way. The play begins with the Stonewall riots and Milton in bed with Ochs. It is his first sexual experience and he learns from Ochs that there are two types of gay men - "homosexuals and faggots." in 1974, Milton is in a relationship with his college professor and he learns that men do not have relationships or fall in love with other men. This lesson is challenged in the last two scenes of Act One as Milton struggles with his relationships with Bradley and Pip. He winds up losing them both (one to different expectations and the other to AIDS).
Act Two finds a bitter Milton after the death of his lover Pip. His mother tries to intervene to no success and Milton turns to two former lovers (George and Bradley). As Milton begins to make changes in his life, a chance encounter with a hustler gives him the opportunity to be the teacher to the new student.
