KEEPING MY KIDNEYS  | Open: 01/18/17 Close: 02/08/17
Mindy Raf brings Keeping My Kidneys back to The PIT Loft. The limited run will play January 18th & February 8th and is directed by Tara Elliott

Brooklyn based writer, performer, and published author, Mindy Raf has performed stand-up all over the country with notable performances at the Women in Comedy Festival (Boston), NY Funny Songs Fest, SketchFest NYC, and Bridgetown Comedy Festival (Portland, OR). In New York, she performs regularly at The Peoples Improv Theater, Dixon Place, QED, and Upright Citizens Brigade. In addition, Raf writes for several websites and TV shows including MTV’s Girl Code, VH1, College Humor, TNT, Lifetime, and was a contributor to the My Parents Were Awesome anthology (Random House). Raf’s young adult novel The Symptoms of My Insanity was published by Penguin Books. Publishers Weekly called Mindy’s writing “refreshing.” www.Mindyraf.com

Keeping My Kidneys weaves a fresh, tightly constructed, narrative around modern love and relationships and brings “humor and—most importantly —normality to parts of the human psychology and emotional life that are far too often romanticized”(Theatre Is Easy) As the romantic comedy is dismantled, you might even end up asking yourself, “could I ever do that?”

“Keeping My Kidneys” is 60 minutes of hilarity.” -Effort Lez

“...prolific NYC Comedian...LGBT Best Bet ” -Time Out New York

“As a standup fan who has seen comics like Aziz Ansari, Hannibal Buress, and John Mulaney perform live sets, I was impressed by the high comedic bar Mindy Raf set for the night. She is refreshingly polished while still being the kick-ass, real woman that you’ve been waiting for. Bravo.” -Theatre Is Easy

NEW YORK CITY - Two little cripples sitting in a tree k-i-s-s—Wait! How did two cripples get up a tree? Come and see Spring Day (her real name!), voted Brooklyn's Best Comedian 2016 and Smart Comedy Award winner, tell true tales of a spastic Sid and Nancy. It's a night of sharp, dark, brutal and relentlessly bubbly comedy that is straight from the heart and hits below the belt. You’ll laugh, be inspired and feel better about your lot in life, you patronizing bastard.

“A Definite Must See!" ★★★★ -ThreeWeeks

"Spring Day is yet another American with cerebral palsy who learned her trade as a comedian on the Japanese circuit. Yawn.
Seriously though, one of the questions you immediately ask is: what kind of comedian is produced by the Japanese comedy scene? And the answer is: a very good one with some excellent observations and sharply-honed punchlines."
-The Skinny

"Spring Day is such a likable and friendly character with an incredibly infectious smile that draws the audience into her performance and wickedly delivered punch lines which have them falling over themselves with laughter, thinking ‘I can’t believe she just said that!’ They absolutely loved her and there is no doubt that you will too. ★★★★"

David Carl's Celebrity One-Man Hamlet  | Open: 01/09/17 Close: 01/10/17
Following this summer’s critically acclaimed run at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, and in the footsteps of Gary Busey’s recent Off-Broadway Perfect Crime debut, the formerly titled Gary Busey’s One-Man Hamlet returns to The PIT Loft for two performances at 8:00 p.m. on January 9 & 10 as the newly minted David Carl’s Celebrity One-Man Hamlet.

The New York Times called the show "Deliciously deranged...a head-spinning performance!" The Chicago Tribune said, "Bold and often hilarious...thoroughly enjoyable...spot-on impression."

As Shakespearean actor, puppeteer, singer and action-movie hero, New York actor-writer David Carl impersonates Gary Busey performing each scene of Hamlet with occasional detours across Mr. Busey’s IMDB page from The Buddy Holly Story to Lethal Weapon. The heady mix of high and low-brow comedy celebrates Shakespeare’s classic by using it to reflect upon the jaded, celebrity-crazed, meme-obsessed world around us.

Mindy weaves a fresh, tightly constructed, narrative around modern love and relationships. As the romantic comedy is dismantled, you might even end up asking yourself, “could I ever do that?”

MOBY ALPHA  | Open: 04/07/16 Close: 04/14/16
Wowing crowds from L.A. to Edmonton to Edinburgh, Moby Alpha pays preposterous homage to classic sci-fi and bombastic literature, with nods to Alien, Star Trek, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and myriad others. Moby Alpha tells the story of a mad captain’s quest for revenge on the amorphous energy cloud that temporarily took his leg. More simply, Moby Alpha is Moby-Dick in space - but funny. The show is performed in an entirely dark theater, with the only light emanating from the duo’s custom-built, million-color, LED space helmets - creating a unique, otherworldly aesthetic. No flashlights necessary. Moby Alpha is a space-age, comic romp unlike anything you've seen on land, the high seas, or deep space.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ – "The writing is superb…the most creative use of lighting I’ve ever seen…an ingenious bit of comedy theater!” - Edinburgh Festivals Magazine

“The staging is so clever it nearly overheated my circuits. Simple, but practically perfect!" - The Scotsman

★ ★ ★ ★ – "A clever satire that manages to prank sci-fi and classical culture in the same trip!” - Edmonton Sun

Moby Alpha is written and performed by Charles, the award-winning comedy duo composed of Chuck Armstrong & Charlie Stockman. Heralded by Centerstage Chicago as “absolutely brilliant,” Charles has performed throughout North America and the UK, including annual appearances at the Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, and Toronto Sketch Festivals; the LA Comedy Festival; the Toronto, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Victoria, Hollywood, and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals; the People’s Improv Theater New York; the UCB Theatre Los Angeles; and the Comedy Central Stage Hollywood. Winners of “Best Writing” and “Best Sketch Comedy” at the 2012 LA Comedy festival, and “Best Film” at the 2013 Seattle Comedy Film Challenge.
