LAST RESORT  | Open: 06/10/16 Close: 06/18/16
When you're old and you know your time is short what do you do? Go on a kick-ass vacation! Thrill seeking seniors spare no expense at going out with a bang at this resort. To hell with laws and rules when you know you'll die soon anyway. Join the Improvisational Repertory Theatre Ensemble (IRTE) at the ultra-exclusive Golden Sunset, the LAST RESORT you will ever need or want. IRTE mixes traditional theatrical storytelling with the excitement of off-the-cuff comedy for an improvised look at the "what-ifs" of life.  IRTE provides the basic framework, and you and your fellow audience members choose the items on the characters' bucket lists, which make up that evening's unique storyline. However, not all is as it seems at the Golden Sunset - Better not get in the way of these "oldies" and their ever accommodating staff, or you might just check out before they do!

Celebrating its fifth season, the award-winning group of trained actors work to develop, produce and perform a full season of original themed, theatrically-staged, and character-driven comedy shows based in improvisation and following the basic model of seasonal repertory theatre. IRTE has won praise for elevating the art of improvisational theatre while opening it up to a broader audience of theatergoers. Adding simple costumes, props, and strong characters and you get a very theatrical, raw, ridiculous and irreverent, narrative-driven and completely improvised show that has made a powerful impact around the country

Most recently, IRTE performed at the Theatre for the New City’s Dream Up Festival, three seasons of the Del Close Marathon, Philadelphia Improv Festival, Boston Comedy Arts Festival, NYC Improv Festival, two seasons of the Unscripted New York Improvised Theatre and Film Festival, Tampa Improv Festival, New Orleans Comedy Arts Festival, and Portland Improv Festival. They enjoyed a residency at Gotham City Improv, and were honored with the 2014 Supreme Honorary Improvised Theater & Film Award for Outstanding Genre Performance by Unscripted New York. They were named one of the “Seven Must-See Shows” of the 2014 Boston Comedy Arts Festival. In July, they will be appearing at the Midtown International Theatre Festival.

Proof  | Open: 01/30/14 Close: 02/02/14
PROOF is a Pulitzer Prize winning play by David Auburn, that follows Catherine, her estranged sister Claire, and a former student of their father Robert's named Hal, during the days after Robert's sudden death. Although all are extremely intelligent mathematically, they struggle with human relationships- never finding that perfect answer. Catherine is also dealing with the possibility of inheriting her father's insanity, which lead to the demise of his mathematics career.

After it's Broadway debut in 2000 starring Mary Louise Parker as Catherine, PROOF won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, took home multiple Tonys including Best Play, and was adapted into a film starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Anthony Hopkins in 2005.

In January 2014, PROOF is returning to New York City for 5 performances at The Producer's Club, in the heart of the theatre district!

Who are we??

Director and Producer Rebecca Scolnick moved to NYC from Folsom, California to study acting at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. She will graduate in December of 2013. "I am thrilled to be a part of PROOF and to have the opportunity to start my career here in New York so soon after graduation! Please help us make this adventure possible! We've already set the wheels in motion and we need you to keep us going! xx, Rebecca."

Producer and Actress Gabrielle Loneck grew up in upstate New York and completed her training at Pace University in NYC, and the William Esper Studio. Dancing with Dark Goddesses  | Open: 10/02/13 Close: 10/05/13
Weaving a web of poetry, dance, voice and and music, Dancing with Dark Goddesses is an encounter with the faces and realms of the feminine soul.

Passionate and lyrical, spiritual and sexual, earthy and refined - this is a woman's voice speaking to women and to the feminine in both women and men.

Written, choreographed and performed by Irina, the show draws on some of her recent releases: the poetry collection Dancing with Dark Goddesses and the CDs Would That I Could and Roads Travelled, Irina's original settings of her poems. Songs and music from these and from the forthcoming A Net of Souls shape the background to this performance piece.

Measure for Measure  | Open: 09/24/13 Close: 09/24/13
"Some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall..."

The law no longer has any hold over the citizens of Vienna. The sex trade has taken over the shadier pockets of society. Left in charge, the brittle Angelo assumes power with relentless spite: oppression and fear reign. But, after meeting the enchantingly wilful Isabella - the sister of imprisoned Claudio - he can't adhere to his own rules. Deceit, hypocrisy and scandal spiral out of control.

Now in its 14th year, Cambridge University's largest and most prestigious international tour show has been delighting audiences up and down the east coast of the USA since 2000. Each September, Cambridge's most talented actors, directors, producers and technicians bring a Shakespeare play to colleges, high schools and professional theatres, performing to packed houses and critical acclaim.

This year's show will be directed by Charlie Parham, whose recent production of King Lear toured to Europe and London, and his all-male As You Like It ( FringeGuru) took the Edinburgh Fringe and London by storm last summer. At Cambridge, he has directed plays from Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot to Tom Stoppard's Arcadia to great critical acclaim.

Charlie wants the company and their audiences to embrace and grapple with the challenges that famously make this a 'problem' play. He believes that this highly physical, explosively visual production will make the 1604 text as relevant now as it ever was, without losing the fraught beauty of Shakespeare's original words.

Stylish, intoxicating, hilarious and tragic by turn, this production will hurl you head first into modern day Vienna with vigour and passion. With a timeless aesthetic inspired by cinematic icons ranging from Fellini to Tarantino, it will be a whirlwind of political corruption, gender subversion, sex and scandal, justice and mercy...
