The Learned Ladies  | Open: 10/04/13 Close: 10/19/13
Cake Productions and The New Ateh Theater Group present The Learned Ladies...

Henriette is in love with Clitandre and her father approves, but her intellectual mother wants to wed her to conniving "scholar" and mediocre poet Trissotin, and she gets no help from her jealous, academic sister. Mix in an eccentric aunt, an exasperated uncle, a couple of mouthy servants and voila! a satire for the ages about what happens when the pursuit of lofty virtue comes at the cost common sense and compassion. Molière's classic wit and wisdom shine in this rambunctious comedy about upper class pretension.

Translated and adapted by Freyda Thomas, directed by Paul Urcioli, and starring Sarah Brill, Francesca Day, Janna Emig, Susan Finch*, Katie Honaker*, Marta Keursten, Madeleine Maby*, Sara Montgomery, Elizabeth Neptune, and Elena Sanz.
*Member, Actors' Equity Association. AEA Approved Showcase.

Anthem  | Open: 02/20/13 Close: 03/04/13
What is it to be human? How are our innermost wants, needs, desires, manifested when everything that is to be human, to be an individual, is taken away?

An original adaption from the novella by Ayn Rand; "Anthem" is set in an unnamed dystopian future where man is so oppressed that they no longer have the word I. The audience is escorted into a bare space and invited to share a moment in time with two central characters and a lightbox.
