About the Company: Et Voila Theatre
Et Voilà Théâtre is a French speaking troupe based in Houston whose purpose is to promote French language through theatrical expression. Even today, EVT is the only company to conduct amateur performances in French in the United States.
Since 1998, EVT has performed fifteen plays which have involved directors and actors of many nationalities, all sharing the common desire to speak French. Some of these plays have been staged in cities other than Houston, like Dallas and Austin, TX, and Lafayette, LA.
Dominique and Caroline, who would never have met in the outside world, share the same cell in jail. Between laughter and tears, their friendship will delight you and remind you that life goes on in prison as much as in the open air.
Let Anne-Laure Reymond, Valérie Huguet, Laurence Sebeyran and Pascale Lazare, all well known to the public of Et Voila Theatre, lead you through this dance that breaks down solitude and keeps hope alive. Hermine Benard directs the story of these women behind bars, a theme that remains taboo in our society.
Note: intended for mature audience due to strong language.
First directed by the author in 2004 at the Théâtre du Rond Point in Paris, France.
