Ashes To Ashes  | Open: 12/02/12 Close: 12/02/12
Austin Pendleton directs Harold Pinter’s two person, full length play, Ashes to Ashes with Diane Love and Kevin O’Brien for a limited engagement at The Director’s Studio. When Ashes to Ashes opened in 1996 in London, Michael Billington of the Guardian raved, “an extraordinarily powerful work: elusive, mesmeric, disturbing.” The play takes place in the pleasant living room of Rebecca and Devlin. Devlin unnerved by his wife’s allusions to an abusive lover asks for an explanation only to be drawn into her descriptions of what seem to be horrific historic events, never knowing what is fact and what is a figment of her imagination.

The Lecture & The Blackout  | Open: 08/09/12 Close: 08/11/12
THE LECTURE resurrects Aldous Huxleyʼs 1959 lecture, "Man and His Planet" to explore the human capacity for change against a backdrop of environmental damage. The Anthropologists fuses found text, explosive anecdotes, absurd interludes and invigorating movement to examine the precarious role of the individual in the age of climate change.

THE BLACKOUT plunges a group of New Yorkers - plus one stranded tourist from Iceland - into a city transformed by a loss of power lasting weeks, even months. Did we mention they're also in the middle of a heat wave in August? THE BLACKOUT takes a sharp look at a community forced to change their way of life while asking, is real change truly possible?

This ensemble-devised work features performances by: Josh Adler, Robert Colpitts, Mariah Freda, Jean Goto & Brianna Kalisch.
