Brooklyn-based skybetter and associates performs an evening of contemporary dance repertory with live music by the Ear Heart Music Ensemble, making their debut in this concert.  The program includes Temporary Matters set to selections from Jóhann Jóhannsson’s Englabörn; Cold House You Kept set to String Quartet no. 2, Quasi una Fantasia by Henryk Górecki, and the New York premiere of Eveningland, Skybetter’s recent commission by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, featuring selections from David Lang’s Pulitzer Prize-winning The Little Match Girl Passion. Flutist and Ear Heart Music director Amelia Lukas will lead the ensemble in Karen Tanaka’s ethereal Frozen Horizen, setting an icy yet uplifting tone for the evening. The performance will take place in the round.

Legendary for his beautiful tone, his melodic center, and the freedom with which he approaches music, Joe McPhee will receive this year's Lifetime Achievement Award.
It is with great joy that Arts for Art pays homage to this innovative composer, a master of both the saxophone and the trumpet, who has devoted his life to the highest standard of musical excellence.

This annual, multi-arts festival has been the primary focus of Arts for Art's efforts in raising the awareness and reputation of Creative jazz music, dance, spoken word, and visual arts. The Vision Festival, now in its seventeenth year, presents the very best in the international creative music and encourages interdisciplinary collaborations.This year's edition will present approximately 120 artists in 44 performances of music, dance, visual art and poetry all working within the composed and improvisational downtown aesthetic. It will include the work of both established and emerging artists as well as students, with the aim of insuring the future of creative jazz and innovative new music and art in NYC.
