Losing My Religion: Confessions Of A New Age Refugee  | Open: 02/21/13 Close: 03/02/13
This one-man show written and performed by Seth Lepore, is a hysterical romp through America’s spiritual enterprise. The show exposes the blurry line between self-help and faith. Yoga gurus, healthy chocolate peddlers and Buddhists with God complexes ego-trip their way toward absurdity.  Losing My Religionwas one of the top 10 plays of 2011 according to the Twin Cities Daily Planet.

"Part of your brain is reminding you that this is a… show mocking exploitative "self-help" programs, but another part will be telling you to sign up for what the gurus are offering. That's the strange danger of these characters, and Lepore conveys it with a precise, polished, unfailingly entertaining performance." Twin Cities Daily Planet

"[Lepore]… shows the perils of trying to embark on a spiritual journey when you have the intensity of a true believer but the direction of a lost soul… [and] shows off his integrity as a writer, directing the audience’s laughter at a commentary on the faux-spirituality industry, rather than the motivations of people who buy into it." Sick and tired of short jokes and snobbery amongst the gay population, Lucas, a sexually frustrated and vertically challenged young top, is ready to fight back. Armed with only a laptop and a quick wit, our gallant hero addresses the loaded topic of sex and how it divides us, rather than unites us, in a time of need.

It Comes From Beyond!  | Open: 12/04/12 Close: 12/15/12
Horse Trade Theater Group (Heidi Grumelot, Artistic Director, Erez Ziv, Managing Director) will present the World Premiere of Michael R. McGuire’s, It Comes From Beyond!, directed by Heidi Grumelot (The Flower Thief; Donnie and the Monsters) and featuring Horse Trade’s resident acting ensemble, The Drafts.

When a Bombshell sets her sights on a Square neither her violent ex- a Hotshot- nor the Square’s calculations of the world's end can dissuades her. Inspired by 1950’s pulp film greats like The Creature From the Black Lagoon, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, The Blob, Them!, and Invasion of the Body Snatchers, this play by Michael R McGuire addresses all of our 2012 fears. It Comes From Beyond! is a zany, absurdist and ultimately dark comedy that explores American archetypes, xenophobia, fate, and the monsters that lurk within us.

Bedard and Katie Palmer and will feature Laura Aristovulous, Samantha Keogh, Rebekah Levin, Lizzy Palmer, and Marchelle Thurman with Original Music Composition by Randall Benichak, Lighting Design by Dan Stearns, and Set and Costumes created by the cast.

In TIA's signature style of thrilling dance-theater performance, Revolution in 1 will suspend the audience's preconceptions, analyze the origins and myths around revolution, and leave audiences with new-found understanding and empathy. This piece has been in development all of Spring 2012.

About the Company: StrangeDog Theatre Company

STRANGE DOG THEATRE COMPANY has performed in cramped cafes, noisy bars, abandoned warehouses, crowded restaurants and some well-known regional playhouses. They have developed a large repertoire of work over these past couple years – from a slew of carefully constructed evenings of short comedies to premieres of full-length plays. StrangeDog has been striving to bring its stories to established theaters with their experienced theatergoers. Yet we also endeavor to expose new audiences to our particular brand of outlandish comedy and biting drama in venues where they would expect it least. Essentially, StrangeDog is creating plays for people who mistakenly think they don’t like plays.
