The first act centers on the company's head Rascal, internationally renowned dancer and musician Dawn Hampton (recently featured in a PBS documentary). Ms. Hampton instigates all manner of games and mischief, bringing dancers together in a changing spatial universe where they interact side by side both on the ground and in the air. The second act is a modern love story, where trust is put to the test as dancers hurl themselves off ledges and into open space, depending on one another for safe landings. The tale is set to the music of L.A.-based Ozomatli, whose songs are a collision of myriad forms including East L.A. R&B, salsa, dancehall, Indian raga, and New Orleans brass. Other featured musicians include Paul Tillotson and his Love Trio, and live performances by John Kruth of Tribecastan and banjo player Eli Spivak.
General Mischief's work includes both narrative stories and interactive dances. Audience members may be called upon to play Three-card Monte and “Follow the red hat,” or do The Wave and throw balls at the performers on cue. After the evening performances, the audience is invited to take the stage and enjoy their own natural inclination to dance. Musical guests incluse the Gordon Webster Trio on Friday, September 7 and the George Gee Swing Orchestra on Friday, September 14.
The fantastic cast of dancers includes Troy Barnes, Curtis Howard, Gia Lisa Krahne, Satomi Makida, Lisa Natoli, Andrea Skurr, Andrea Steiner, Carlos Taylor Jr., and Emily Smyth Vartanian.

The seven deadly sins writhe in the forest, consuming anyone who crosses their paths. Lust and Sadness walk among us, tempting the weak of heart. A young girl hides amongst the ashes. Timberlake Wertenbaker's The Ash Girl, inspired by the Grimm fairy tale, is very different from the story you remember. Ash Girl must fight through the fires to find her happy ending in this world of fairies in the mirror, brave field mice, and stepmothers with only the best of intentions.
