Big Annie (an American Tall Tale)  | Open: 12/11/12 Close: 12/21/12
In its fifth decade, the award-winning children’s musical puppet theatre, The Shadow Box Theatre, presents Big Annie --  a joyous Holiday Sing-Along celebrating Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa and Three Kings Day.  This story stars Big Annie, a Creole flatboat captain and larger-than-life American heroine! With her amazing strength, and the help of her animal friends, she pulls a boatload of toys through a terrible storm one Christmas Eve long ago. Our storyteller and guitarist capture the rhythm and power of the American work song as the kids join in singing to help Big Annie succeed.  Big Annie is recommended for children ages 3 - 7.

About the Company: Shadow Box Theatre

Once upon a time, way back in the idealistic 1960's, a children's puppet theatre was born. It was the brainchild of an extraordinary woman, Sandra Robbins, who Sandra Robbins and childrendreamed of using light, color and sound to profoundly touch the creative self within each child. Her dream was realized in The Shadow Box Theatre.

For over three decades, this remarkable children's service organization has sustained and built upon her dream. The multi-ethnic troupe and their musical puppet plays have brought love, laughter, joy and affirmation to over two million children. Today, SBT is recognized as one of New York City's major arts resources. It is an award-winning non-profit repertory company dedicated to providing relevant, top-quality children's entertainment.

The Firefly Star  | Open: 12/13/11 Close: 01/05/12

The Shadow Box Theatre presents "The Firefly Star: a Hispanic Tale for Three Kings Day," a magical story of El Dia de los Reyes (January 6th) – and how one year it almost didn't happen!  But the holiday is saved by the clever little mouse Raton Perez, and his ladybug friend Senora Margarita.  Our storyteller and guitarist use puppets and a rich mix of Spanish and medieval songs and music to celebrate the Hispanic folk tradition.

Recommended for ages 3 – 7 years old.
