RE:Vision presented by Forward Motion Theater  | Open: 03/24/10 Close: 03/24/10
Forward Motion Theaterpresents RE:Vision,  a monthly series where live media and digital art are integral to the performing arts.  The evening features seven independent works by artists incorporating live mix video, film, dance, spoken word, puppetry, and music.  One night show, March 24th, 8pm, one stop from midtown Manhattan at The Secret Theatre

RE:Vision will feature: The Vangeline Theater, AlieNatioN & Wetcircuit, Blue Muse Dance, Urban Wash Dance Company & Mikhail Torich, Blind & Aerostatic, Jahna Bobolia, and (+1-1).

Ritual combines Butoh and dance, by French choreographer Vangeline.  AlieNatioN & Wetcircuit won the Pill Award for Best Experimental Short Video with their elaborate costumes and unique visual environments. Collapsing Elbows byJahna Bobolia, is a vignette about the idiosyncratic natural beauty of communicating bodies.  Urban Wash Dance Company and video artist Mikhail Torich examine the willingness for make believe blurring the lines between fantasy and fanaticism.   (+1-1) explores myth and legend in the tale Apologia Medraute.  Blind reveals history through iconic gesture and decay of human form.  Blue Muse Dance observes how we are all made of the same materials, but endless variation, and finds it is easier to make Peace if we understand a basic difference.

The mission of Forward Motion Theater is to explore the combination of movement and technology through live performance and digital media.  Current projects include both live theater and new performance venues through video and the web.  Forward Motion Theater was incorporated as a non-profit arts organization in 2001 and has achieved 501(c)3 status.  Forward Motion Theater is dedicated to exploring forms of communication that resonate regardless of social or cultural heritage, and believes this approach will open the door to a future full of diversity and understanding.

The evening features six independent works by artists combining choreography, video, spoken word, and music. RE:Vision builds on Forward Motion Theater’s 6-year successful series EyeWash that fostered interdisciplinary collaborations between more than 200 digital media artists and live performers. RE:Vision will feature: WetCircuit & Blue Muse Dance, Urban Wash Dance Company, (+1-1), Julie Fotheringham & Jarryd Lowder, Tyler Stone & Mixtress, and Blind.

Julie Fotheringham & Jarryd Lowder are known for their guerrilla public performances in Grand Central Station, Times Square, and MoMa. They are described as “always risky, self-conscious and confrontational” (Benjamin Sutton: The L Magazine, Sept. 2, 2009). Urban Wash Dance Company presents Entangled Embrace intertwining dance and live virtual painting. Tyler Stone & Mixtress light it up with a taste from their upcoming album Hit Mode presenting music, vocals, video, and dance. (+1-1) takes the audience to the next chapter of Mordred’s Apology. Blue Muse Dance & Wetcircuit premier Lost & Found…Karma inspired Japanese film Ikiru – To Live. Blind premiers a new solo furthering experimental intermedia play.
