A monthly variety show celebrating music, spoken word, burlesque, magic, storytelling, short play readings, and vaudeville acts, the next SUBTERRANEAN is on February 5 at 10:00pm in the D-Lounge, a 75-seat cabaret-style venue below the Daryl Roth Theatre at 101 East 15th Street at Union Square.

MAIEUTIC THEATRE WORKS (MTWorks) is pleased to announce their one-night only benefit event, UNDERWORLD: A Night with Broadway's Understudies, hosted by improv comic Law Tarello (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), under the musical direction of Matt Doebler (Wicked). UNDERWORLD will take place on Monday, May 19th (7:30pm) at The D-Lounge (101 East 15th Street, under the Daryl Roth Theatre). The understudies performing include David Garry (Company, Sweeney Todd Tour), Carly Hughes (The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Chelsea Krombach (Wicked), Lindsay Northen (Wicked), Jacqui Polk (Hairspray, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Heather Spore (Wicked), Andrew Varela (Sunday in the Park with George), Katrina Yaukey (Company, Cabaret) and Catherine Walker (Mary Poppins). Julie Griffith is the event producer. The production features stage direction by Elyzabeth Gorman and Martha Goode is the sound engineer. Artwork created by Lindsay Moore. The play, which first appeared as a six-part epic poem in the January 1979 edition of Playboy Magazine and subsequently as a one-act play at Lincoln Center in 1989, tells the story of Billy Markham, an unforgettable character who never met a bet he didn't take, including that of his very soul. Billy journeys from Nashville's Music Row down into the fiery pits of hell and back again as he matches wits with God, the Devil, and everyone in between in this hilarious, ferocious, outrageous and wildly entertaining evening of theater.
