Joan Rivers  | Open: 11/04/08 Close: 12/17/08
After a 4 month hiatus (following a successful run of her autobiographical play on London's West End), legendary comedian JOAN RIVERS returns to New York with her live stand-up act. Join Rivers as she presents an evening of her newest and most outrageous stand-up comedy and riffs on Hollywood, pop culture, celebrities, and award show fashions.

Described as a post-menopausal Lenny Bruce, JOAN RIVERS delivers a raunchy, politically incorrect evening of stand-up comedy. One of the hardest working women in show business, she is a best-selling author, Tony-nominated actress, playwright, screenwriter, motion picture director, Emmy Award-winning television talk-show host, jewelry designer, business woman and mother to "what's-her-name" Melissa. She is on the board of God's Love We Deliver, National Chairwoman of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and gives lectures around the world on suicide prevention and survival. With her trademark mix of outspoken wit, savvy and compassion, she continues to be one of America's most admired first ladies of comedy.

Holly, Jolly, Jessye  | Open: 12/05/08 Close: 12/17/08
SHEQUIDA, Americas only Juilliard-trained drag opera diva (and a recent finalist on the NBC-TV show America's Got Talent) presents a limited engagement of HOLLY, JOLLY, JESSYE. Performances of this light-hearted holiday extravaganza by JESSYE NORMOUS, The World's Biggest Opera Diva (a larger-than-life character embodied by the petite Shequida), begin December 5th at The Cutting Room.

HOLLY, JOLLY, JESSYE is a very special holiday concert featuring spirited banter and all of Jessye's classic arias, her favorite Christmas songs, a sampling of negro spirituals, and some Chanukah favorites. The set list for this very big show in a very small room includes Feliz Navidad, O Come All Ye Faithful, Kumbaya, Swing Low Sweet Chariot and much, much more. It certainly wont be a Silent Night!

"Not since Josephine Baker danced in bananas has there been such a uniquely radical entertainer... she possess a singing voice of pure divinity that can move men to tears and make women swoon with empathy." -- Pittsburgh City Paper

"A high-pure, operatic voice that boggled the mind" -- New York Post

"File this under too fun to be true! Her five octave vocal range puts Mariah Carey to shame." -- The Boston Globe

Make Love  | Open: 09/06/06 Close: 09/08/06
In "Make Love," Finley channels Liza Minnelli in song, dance, glamour and glitter. Liza's tragicomic life is the backdrop as one New Yorker grasps to make sense of post-9/11 America. The "Divaness" of Liza as an icon and symbol of New York becomes the place to throw pathos, hilarity, mockery and taboos. With piano, torch singing, "Make Love" is a complex amalgam of humor, pain and compassion. This cabaret-driven, lounge-style act co-stars drag performer and artist Chris Tanner, pianist Lance Cruce, and a rotating roster of Liza Minnelli impersonators

"Liza Minnelli is New York," explains Finley. "She keeps on trying. After her hip replacement, she still gets up and dances. Every time she gets knocked down, she gets right back up." Finley encourages audience members to come dressed as their own inner-Liza.

Confessions of a Prarie Bitch  | Open: 05/12/06 Close: 05/13/06
Best known as acid-tongued, pre-Midol meanie Nellie Oleson from "Little House on the Prairie", Arngrim presents an uproarious evening of storytelling and stand-up about life as everyone's favorite toxic pre-teen brat, complete with petticoats and ringlets. Never afraid to dish the dirt on TV land, she let all the secrets loose of "Little House on the Prairie", Hollywood and much more. Recalling her life and career as bitchy Nellie Oleson, Arngrim startles audiences internationally with off-color jokes about child stars and TV icons of the 1970's and 80s.
