As part of the Centennial Heritage Festival, this non-traditional staging of a 374 year-old marionette play is based on the story of love at first sight of the 11th century Duke Oldrich, who braved stout opposition for friend and foe alike to marry the exquisitely fair washerwoman Bozena, but forgot to mention some details of his own marital status to his beloved. The two legendary lovers are truthfully represented by fine hand-carved marionettes and life-like mechanicals fashioned expertly two centuries ago from the choicest linden wood; their manipulators in period costumes are artfully composed in flesh and blood. Recommended for audiences age 8-108.

Be careful who you leave off the list...

What happens when you wake up one morning and 100 years have passed you by? How do you protect your children in a world where fairies have fangs and curses can kill? What do we do when "ever after" isn't so happy after all? And what's the best way to keep your Horse's snotty attitude in check? Join us as we unravel the answers to these universal questions (and more!) in a thrilling blend of theatre, music, movement, and shadow play.

This May, at the historic Jan Hus theatre, Everyday Inferno brings Caroline Angell’s modern new adaptation of the classic Sleeping Beauty fairy tale to life. Weaving together the narratives of Perrault, Basile, and The Brothers Grimm, this re-imagining explores the dark (and occasionally hilarious) corners of a story we all thought we'd heard before. (This production contains mature themes and material and is geared toward an adult audience).

EVERYDAY INFERNO THEATRE COMPANY is devoted to creating adventurous theatrical productions of both new and classic texts. We seek to exceed the conventional limitations of low-budget theatre by exploring nontraditional spaces, stagecraft, and storytelling. We are committed to developing a diverse audience by producing work that is large in scope while keeping our production costs (and ticket prices) at a minimum.

Glass Highways  | Open: 10/05/06 Close: 10/30/06
On Christmas Eve in contemporary New Mexico, winter storm clouds buoy an
omnipresent full moon. This night, on a lonely Interstate highway, with the support of his Zuni Indian brother Wayne, Jimmy Freewater has to run the gamut of near mythical proportions as he seeks to marry the woman he loves. But Julia's father and brothers, comprising a dysfunctional family, menace and conspire against any such union. Jimmy's comic/tragic journey parallels the course of a blizzard the likes of which has never been seen in New Mexico history. The near apocryphal quest pits culture against culture, belief against belief, man against man, through a worsening storm that shows no abatement.
