Upper East Side man–about-town, John Worthing, pursues the worldly “it girl” Gwendolen, while trust-fund-kid, Algernon, has his eye on John’s ward, the bubbly Cecily. But first, John must prove to Gwen’s mother, Lady Bracknell, that he is New York royalty and not merely the progeny of his handbag. When both men galavant to the Hamptons under disguise, their ladies see through the scheme. But who, exactly, is Ernest? The truth is rarely pure and never simple.
