Genre: Classical, Drama
Written by William Shakespeare, Directed by Andrew Borthwick-Leslie

Our upcoming production of Macbeth is a fitting response to our times in its exploration of ambition, tyranny and what it means to be a leader. With Macbeth, as with all of our work, we seek to answer the question: “What does it mean to bring our full humanity into our work, play and lives?”

Macbeth is a part of Humanist Project’s TYRANT SERIES.  The series began in April of 2016 with a workshop production of Titus Andronicus, which played to full houses and standing ovations. Our investigation continued in the fall of 2016, with a week-long study of Richard III, in partnership with The Shakespeare Society, culminating in a public reading of the play on the night before the presidential election.

Rehearsals have begun on this trim 5-actor production of Macbeth.  Founding members Andrew Borthwick-Leslie and Michael F. Toomey, will be directing and playing Macbeth, respectively. They have a firm rooting in classical Theatre and are both long-time company members of Shakespeare & Co in Lenox, MA. Joining them will be Claire Warden, a faculty member of the Shakespeare Forum and Shakespeare & Co;  Josephine Wilson, a company member of Shakespeare & Co and faculty at New York Film Academy; Welland Scripps, founding member of Letter of Marque Theatre Company, and Fat Maggie Productions, and Zach Libresco, company member of the Humanist Project.

Featuring: Michael F. Toomey*, Claire Warden*,  Welland Scripps, Zach Libresco* and Josephine Wilson*
