Life Without Parole will receives its NY premiere as part of the 18th Annual New York International Fringe Festival, - FringeNYC. August 8th – 26th.
Sometimes, the greatest injustice is the justice system itself. Inspired by Dr. Elizabeth Leonard’s Convicted Survivors: The Imprisonment of Battered Women Who Kill, Life Without Parole draws on the original transcripts and testimonies of women incarcerated at the California Institution for Women at Chino for killing their abusive partners. This play takes you "behind the barbed wire" exposing how these convicted domestic violence survivors bond together, explore their pasts, and survive when orange becomes their new black and blue.
The cast includes Anne Bobby, Lolita Brinkley, Karah Gravatt, Annette Hunt, Lil Malinich, Mark Lyons, John Moss & Adrienne Williams.
The creative team includes Kasey Brown (Assistant Director), Melanie Lisby (Fringe ACR), and Joanne Schwartzberg (Stage Manager). It is produced by Working Artists Theatre Project (Jessica Dermody, Charlie Sutton, Chad Luke Schiro, Christy Witt Hoffman) in association with Karah Gravatt and Robert Tyrer.
