by Regina Robbins

(a staged reading)

"The music stopped and I stood still,
And found myself outside the hill,
Left alone against my will..."
Robert Browning, The Pied Piper of Hamelin

The rats are gone....but so are the children.

Having cheated the Pied Piper out of his fee for removing their plague of rats, the men and women of Hamelin awake to find their children stolen away. Only two remain: one crippled, the other deaf. Facing scorn and anger not only from their neighbors, but from their own families, Koby and Erna turn toward one another for comfort. They are bound together by misfortune - but will that bond save them, or destroy them?
