Following an enormously successful debut Monologue Jam in December, 2012, the Lower East Side-based theater company, Alacrity Project, presents a reprise onSunday, February 24, 2013 at the popular venue, Arlene’s Grocery. The Jam is part of Alacrity Project’s A Live Series, which provides self-producing artists the opportunity to perform on a black-box-style stage in an alternative environment, and receive professional video-recordings of their performances for use in furthering their art and careers. Video recording for the MonologueJam will be provided by http://firstlivestudio.com/. The performance will stream live at www.lavaxp.tv/venue/arlenesgrocery.
Fifteen actors will perform monologuescomprised of original pieces, excerpts from plays, television, and film, and Alacrity Project’s Artistic Director, Emily Niewendorp will be singing a musical selection. All of the actors will receive a top-quality video recording of their individual performances.A drawing at the close of the show, will determine the winning performers, who will have the opportunity to select from an assortment of theater related prizes, courtesy of local and neighborhood businesses.
“The first Jam was such an overall success, even more than I expected that the decision to produce another one happened very naturally. I performed as well, and that experience was incredibly beneficial to my craft. Several people approached me afterward interested in becoming active producers in Alacrity Project, with ideas of their own as well. I have been envisioning this level of participation for the last year, but it's still a wonderful surprise when it actually happens,” said Emily Niewendorp, Artistic Director for Alacrity Project.
