written and performed by David Lee Nelson , directed and co-created by Adam Knight
In the style of Spalding Gray, comedian David Lee Nelson focuses his trademark wit on his political past in his new play THE ELEPHANT IN MY CLOSET. Filled with bipartisan fervor, Nelson struggles with his Republican upbringing, his transformation into a New York liberal, and the nearly impossible task of coming out of the closet to his father...as a Democrat.
When it debuted in Charleston, South Carolina, The Post and Courier said of THE ELEPHANT IN MY CLOSET, “[it’s] beauty lies in its ability to poke fun at both sides of the political aisle, even though we know he’ll ultimately go the way of the donkey,” and the Charleston City Paper said it, “blends comedy with some real introspection about political identity.”
THE ELEPHANT IN MY CLOSET will have lighting and projection design by Gertjan Jouben.
