FABULOUS! The Queen of New Musical Comedies

Write Act Repertory Eastside’s Producing Artistic Director John Lant present the New York Premiere of FABULOUS!, a celebrated limited engagement, opening August 11th, and closing August 26th 2012.

New York – Fabulous! The Queen of New Musical Comedies is a farce in the style of the Golden Age of Broadway. The show is a cross between Anything Goes, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Some Like It Hot. It begins in Paris! Two female impersonators, Jane Mann and Laura Lee Handle, are down on their luck. Backing up Sue Flay, the worst Drag Diva in France, proved a complete disaster. They're jobless and homeless. Just when Jane and Laura Lee get ready to throw in their powder puffs ... a telegram! They'll headline as fabulous showgirls on a cruise ship, the Queen Ethel May. The catch? Keeping their male identities a secret from snooping crew members, jewel heisting gangsters and every gentleman caller that comes their way. It's vintage musical theater meets contemporary farce in a new musical comedy where practically everything goes.

Write Act Repertory is a membership-based organization whose artist members include Writers, Actors, Directors, Designers and Technical Personnel. Write Act Rep specializes and is dedicated to the development of original plays, lesser known works by established writers, adaptations of classical-themed materials and musicals. Write Act Rep also produces rarely seen works or Los Angeles premieres. Along with our repertory season, Write Act Rep enriches the lives of the multi-cultural community of New York through our outreach programs with several other non-profit organizations, theatrical or academic, creating a positive educational and artistic impact within the community. Currently, one of Write Act Rep's outlets provides members the opportunity to produce and create original scripts developed exclusively for the resident professional artists in the membership. We encourage the artists through the continued engagement and immersion in an environment of artistic safety, to forward the company's mission as well as their own personal goals in the entertainment field. By providing an atmosphere of mutual respect for every discipline and area of live theatrical presentation, we have become one of the most diverse theatre companies in NY. Write Act Repertory continues to enrich the lives of Los Angeles theatre artists, our patrons, and the multi-cultural community through our innovative programming, and by providing rental space and rehearsal time to our other fellow theatre producers.
