Body and Sol is the second annual performance of Sol West Dance Collaborative. This dynamic performance celebrates the passion of movement and showcases the raw talent and choreography of 7 beautiful artists. Ranging from musical theater to contemporary ballet, Sol West shares their love of movement in many different styles of dance.

This charity performance is also raising money for the organization New York Youth at Risk. Sol West dancers provide free dance classes to at-risk freshmen in Jamaica, Queens. Your support will allow us to continue sharing the love of dance with these teens!

Brittany Werthmann

was born and raised in Plano, TX where she studied with Chamberlain School of the Performing Arts.  Her early training also includes Broadway Theatre Project where she took part in workshopping several new musicals including Wonderland and Havana.  Brittany received her BFA in dance from Southern Methodist University.  She has had the opportunity to perform the original works of George Balanchine, Martha Graham, Alvin Ailey, Donald McKayle, William Forsythe, and Robert Battle.  She has also had the opportunity to perform with San Francisco Conservatory of Dance under the direction of Summer Lee Rhatigan.  Brittany feels very blessed to be a part of Sol West Dance Collaborative.

Corinna Phillips

is originally from Houston, Texas, Corinna began dancing at the age of three. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Southern Methodist University, receiving her B.F.A. in Dance with an award for Outstanding Achievement. Whilst at SMU, Corinna was privileged to perform the works of Martha Graham, Maurice Béjart, Alvin Ailey, Paul Taylor, Robert Battle, and Pascal Rioult. Additionally, she has studied at Toronto Dance Theatre, Martha Graham School, and Paul Taylor School. Since moving to New York, Corinna has had the opportunity to perform with Buglisi Dance Theatre, Ben Munisteri Dance Projects, Project Agent Orange, and Angelo Dance Project.

Elani Engelken

began training at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance at the age of 8. She studied dance at the Denver School of the Arts and majored in Dance at Loyola Marymount University. Ms. Engelken then performed with the Davis Contemporary Dance Company. She has been teaching for the past 10 years. She is currently in her second season with Sol West.

Heather Klobukowski

is a california native, and recently received her BFA in Dance from San Jose State University under the instruction of Fred Mathews, Gary Masters, Heather Cooper, and Janie Scott. There she danced with the University Dance Theater student company, working with guest artists such as Kara Davis, Holly Johnston and Scott Wells. She has also studied at Alonzo King Ballet Summer Program and The Ailey® School.   For the past three years, Heather has had the privilege to performed in San Jose’s annual Dancin’ Downtown Festival as well as at the American College Dance Festival. Heather is also working with Beyond Lines Contemporary Dance Company directed by Cara Goodwin.  Heather is excited to explore new horizons with SolWest this season.

Katelyn Lally

started her training at the draper center for dance at the age of 8. At 17, she got chosen to be a company member of the Rochester City ballet. She remained with the company, performing principal roles until July 2011. She recently moved to New York City, this is her first year as a member of Sol West.

Katie Castellucci

was raised in Houston, TX where she studied under the direction of Steven Boyd and Erika Gonzalez. She graduated from Southern Methodist University in 2011 with a B.F.A. in dance performance and a minor in Religious Studies. While attending SMU she performed works by Martha Graham, William Soleau, and Daniel Buraczeski. Katie joined Sol West in the fall of 2011.
