Early training was at the Cork Arts Studio in and at the Shawbrook Ballet School in Longford. Later, he trained at the Legat Pre-Professional Dance Course in East Sussex and went on to the University of Pittsburg, where he graduated with a BFA in Dance and English. Mr. Murphy came to New York City where he has performed with Heidi Latsky Dance, Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company, Kazuko Hirabayashi Dance Theatre and Bill T Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company. Mr. Murphy joined The Eric Hawkins Dance Company and has performed with them at Jacob Pillow, American Dance Guild Festival, Rhinebeck Performing Arts Center and the Harkness Dance Center at the 92nd Street Y.
