The Window, a free site specific theatrical work at the Romanian Cultural Institutes in New York's (RCINY) storefront gallery window on the corner of 38th Street and Third Avenue.
Obie Award winners -- playwright Samuel D. Hunter and designer Nic Ularu -- have teamed with creator/director Ana Mărgineanu to create a 20-minute play that will be performed inside RCINY's storefront gallery for onlookers and passersby, who will watch on the other side of the glass. The Window breaks the classic convention of the theatregoer buying a ticket, entering the theatre and just seeing a show. This time, the audience members are in control and decide how long to watch the performance. Pedestrians may view the piece as a “living window” for a few moments, in a quick flash or in its entirety. The Window is RCINY’s first foray into site-specific theater, continuing its support for innovative approaches to emerging art.
Performances of the short play -- I was just thinking... -- take place every 20 minutes between 7:30 pm and 10:00 pm on performance days.
