In what is the first-ever collaborative effort among the Theatre Discipline and the York College Performing Arts Center, York College Theatre presents RENT, with music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson based on Giacomo Puccini’s opera La Bohème.  RENT tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City

Kevin Gomez Mark Cohen

is an upper junior at York College. He is currently majoring in Speech Communication/Theatre Arts with a concentration in Theatre Arts. He took an interest in the arts after taking a Basic Acting course at York with Professor Schilling. Kevin also enjoys listening to music, watching movies, as well as putting on small performances at church-related events. His past productions include: Scapin, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged, All InThe Timing, The Tempest, CVR, SlapDASH, Don Juan in Chicago and Fame.

Taso Mikroulis Roger Davis


being honored with the artistic achievement award upon graduating with this degree in Film/Theater at Deree University(The American College of Greece), Taso Mikroulis recently wrapped his Off-Broadway debut as King Thoas in “Iphigenia in Tauris.” Theatre: I Hate Hamlet, Golden Boy, The Importance of Being Earnest, Into the Woods, Hello Dolly, GOD, and The Outsiders. Film: the award winning, Are You For Great Sex?, which also features one of Taso’s original songs.  Other Film: OtherSide, Ten-Buck Baton, Prince Leo, Papillon, Battle Angel, The B.T.S., A Day in the Lifeless, Indigo, and is currently filming An American’s Destiny. TV: award winning, “The RAs”, ”Fame Story”, and “The Upstarts”. Taso is currently producing his short film, “Atë”, and is going Off-Broadway as Bradley in Academy Award winner, John Patrick Shanley’s, “Four Dogs and a Bone”, at WILD PROJECT. Taso currently studies at Haymarket Annex with the respected Jennifer Gelfer. 

Solomon Peck Tom Collins

is a recent graduate of York College.  He earned his degree in English Literature with a minor in Theatre Arts.  Solomon has performed in number of York College productions including The Tempest, SpeakOUT, CVR, Oleanna and The Exonerated.   He is also building his career in the world of music. With his completed debut LP, Solomon is well on his way to becoming a “singing sensation."

Daniel Anthony Hidalgo Angel Dumott Schunard

is currently a Junior at Queens College, majoring in Theatre. He grew up in Puerto Rico and recently moved to New York to pursue acting. Past theatre credits include Nick in Dark Play or Stories For Boys and Ernst in Spring Awakening

Erick Carter Benjamin "Benny" Coffin III

was born and raised in Abilene, Texas and is excited to be back on the York College stage.  He graduated with a BFA in Theatre from Abilene Christian University in 2011 and decided to make the move to New York. Some of his favorite roles include Benny in RENT, Seaweed in Hairspray and a Wickersham Brother in Seussical.  Erick would like to thank his family for their continued support, the cast and director for bringing to life such an influential show, and everyone coming to see the show for supporting York College and supporting the Arts! 

Sabrina Thomas Mimi Márquez

is a senior at York College working towards her B.A in Speech Communication/Theatre Arts.  Her past productions include: FAME, The Musical (Ms. Bell), Macbeth (Lady Macbeth) and RENT (Mimi Marquez).  Sabrina is a well known student at the Brooklyn Conservatory of the Arts where she studied the piano and voice for multiple years.  In the near future she aspires to pursue a career in musical theatre.  Sabrina lives by this motto, " life beats down and crushes the soul, and art remind you that you have one.” - Stella Adler.

Miya Bass Maureen Johnson

most recent accomplishment was winning a radio singing competition hosted by comedian Steve Harvey in Las Vegas . Later on, she performed on the world famous stage of Apollo theater. In the same year, she did her very first off-broadway plays in NYC, landing a major role in I know I’m Somebody and I know I’m Somebody Part 2. She also sang with a choir chosen for a BET show called Black Girls Rock along with Beyonce’s famous all girl band. Some of Mayo’s other accomplishments were landing a major role in Little Shop of Horrors as the Voice of the Plant, taking advantage of her alto/tenor range. She also landed the major role of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. You can catch her on youtube where she expresses her talent through song and vlogging. She also has a youtube video of herself on the Tyra Banks show as an extra. Mayo is also known for her invigorating personality.

Tatiana Victoria Lizcano Joanne Jefferson

is a graduate of Frank Sinatra School of the Arts High School. She is a junior at The City College of New York where she is working towards her B.A. in Psychology and continues to study voice on the side. At age thirteen she starred in an original production of “The Big Leap” at The Church in the Garden as a Garden Player. She has been a member of the Free Synagogue of Flushing Community Theater Group for a year. Her past roles include Lily in the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts’ production of “Secret Garden”, and as a Dynamite in the Free Synagogue of Flushing's production of “Hairspray”. She has also appeared in a Broadway Revue at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts where she performed "Only Make Believe" from “Showboat” and a Musical Revue at the Free Synagogue of Flushing where she performed "Gimme, Gimme" from “Thoroughly Modern Millie”. She is excited to be performing in her first production at York College and looks forward to being a part of an amazing show!!!

Clarence Ilanan Steve, Waiter, Squeegiman & Homeless Man

is proud to be part of such an amazing production. RENT has been such an influential force in his love for the performing arts.  Past productions include: Little Women (Laurie Lawrence), Miss Saigon (Thuy), RENT (Paul - Angel Understudy), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Chip Tolentino) and West Side Story (Chino).  He would especially like to thank Tim, Jonathan and Jennifer and here’s to an amazing cast that makes him look forward to coming to rehearsals every week. NO DAY BUT TODAY!!

Marc Beard Homeless Man #1, Paul and Pastor

is currently a junior at York College majoring in Accounting. Past credits include: Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors.  Marc is also very active in the York College Gospel Chorus.

Jarrel Lynch Gordon, Policeman, Backup & Homeless Man

his past production credits include: Little Shop of Horrors, Fabulation, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged, Macbeth, All In The Timing and Fame.  Jarrel has been a stage technician, actor, and an assistant stage manager for a number of shows at York.  The skills that he has gained through productions and coursework at York also help with work outside the school. He wants to keep the theater close while he continues his profession in Communications & Technology, pursuing a career in sports-casting and videography.

Stephen Pink Homeless Man #2, Backup & Mr. Jefferson

is a sophomore at York College. Mr. Pink has a tremendous passion for singing and dancing and has found nothing more satisfying. He believes that he can achieve the impossible because of his talents. Some of his past performances include: FAME The Musical, The Red Shoes, West Side Story and All Shook Up

Rickie Tice Mrs. Cohen & Homeless Woman

has been studying dance for ten years and singing since she could speak. Previous theatre roles include: Thoroughly Modern Millie (Lucille), Beauty and the Beast (Babbette), 42nd Street (Annie), Noises Off (Brooke), The King and I (Eliza/Principle Dancer), West Side Story (Consuela/Choreographer), Hairspray (Brenda) and You're a Good Man Charlie Brown (Snoopy). She is currently studying Theatre and Dance at Queens College and Broadway Dance Center and does vocal training with Chakira Doherty.

Maria Angelina Nidea Ali, Policewoman, Backup & Rogers Mom

is currently a sophomore in York College, majoring in Speech Communication/Theater Arts. This is her first year joining a York College Theater production and is thrilled to be a part of it! Angelina has always had a passion for the arts and has done a number of productions in high school. She plans to continue performing and focusing on her college career at the same time. Angelina would like to thank her family and friends for always supporting her and she hopes everyone enjoy the show! 

Gabrielle Calixte Pam, Policewoman, Backup, Mimis Mom

is a graduate of York College. She holds a B.A. in Speech Communications/Theatre Arts.  She is an actor and vocalist.  Gabby, as she is affectionately known, has been featured in several Off Off-Broadway productions including RENTLittle Shop of HorrorsSpeak OutThe Stronger, and The Piano Lesson.  Most recently she has performed for a group of delegates in the US Congress and Senate.  Gabby will be working on several productions later on this year and lives by the motto, "If you don't build your dream someone will hire you to help build theirs." 

Nakiiya Humes Homeless Woman, Vendor & Alexi Darling

is a sophomore at York College majoring in Sociology with a minor in Theatre Arts. She has always had a great love for theatre and this is her first appearance on the York College stage. Her previous roles include: South Pacific (Nellie Forbush) and Guys and Dolls (Miss Adelaide).  Ms. Humes has also performed at many York College events which include: The Mr. & Ms. York College Pageant, where she won the crown for her one woman show of singing, dancing, and acting,Johnny stole my Heart.

Nina Oll-adikankwu Sue, Blanket person, Mrs. Jefferson

is a junior at York College majoring in Chemistry with a minor in French. She can almost always be found in a laboratory, but also has a passion for singing and dancing. Although "RENT" will officially be her first theater production, Nina is sure she can bring something wonderful to the stage. She's eager to learn more about performing and hopes to make musicals a bigger part of her life.
