Genre: Solo Performance
Conceived and performed by Sarah Jones

Following an impromptu, sold-out show in November that left fans begging for more, Sarah Jones invites her audience to an intimate series of workshop performances offering an exclusive peek at her process.

From January 17 through February 28, for 14 performances only, Sarah will present New Year, Nuyorican at the renowned Nuyorican Poets Café (236 E. 3rd Street between Avenues B and C).  All performances begin at 8pm. Tickets are $20, with student rush tickets available with valid ID the day of the performance for $12. General admission tickets can be purchased online at, by calling 212.780.9386, or in person at the Nuyorican box office.

Since Bridge & Tunnel, which Meryl Streep proclaimed to be "One of the best performances I've ever seen", Sarah has performed everywhere from the main stage of the TED conference to the White House at the invitation of First Lady Michelle Obama. You may even have caught her recently in Chris Rock's "Good Hair" or on Oprah and Gayle Radio. But this time it's back to her roots in a different way as Sarah treats audiences to her first public (but unadvertised, word of mouth only) shows since Broadway--fittingly at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe where she got her start.

New Year, Nuyorican will include some of the multicultural characters from Bridge & Tunnel, as well as new characters who will grace a New York stage for the first time. Audiences will experience material in development, improv, plus an intimate Q&A with audience members. There will also be surprise special guests. Gloria Steinem, the groundbreaking feminist, journalist and social and political activist will join Sarah for the very first performance scheduled for Monday, January 17 at 8pm. The show will change from night to night, but each will surely be an experience to remember.
