The 3D-Jazz Improv Show

“The Strike Anywhere Performance Ensemble merges music, theater, improvisation, and structured composition into a total multi-media experience – a ‘happening’ in which art leaps off the wall and into the seat next to us.” Asbury Park Press
NEW YORK, May 9, 2010 –THE STRIKE ANYWHERE PERFORMANCE ENSEMBLE uses its monthly !!FreEpLaY!! performance series for an off-the-wall scavenger hunt. SA’s interdisciplinary ensemble of world-class jazz musicians, modern dancers, and actors will riff on the theme of Mother to spontaneously spin out performance pieces in a style dubbed “3D-Jazz”. Clues and directives will guide the piece. Known for their use of SOUNDPAINTING, the live composing sign language, the ensemble creates art in the moment, allowing intuition, the sounds of the room and audience suggestion to shape what they play. In light of Mother’s Day, all mothers accompanied by a child get in free! Suggested ages: 15 and up.
