NEW YORK, FEBRUARY 14, 2010 - In honor of Valentine’s Day, THE STRIKE
ANYWHERE PERFORMANCE ENSEMBLE uses its monthly !!FreEpLaY!! performance
series to riff on the exquisite pain of heartache. The evening will feature several guest
appearances including downtown performer Laura Wickens and poet Jerry Williams.
Williams will read from “It’s not You, It’s Me”, his recently-released collection of poetry
on break-up and divorce. SA’s interdisciplinary ensemble of world-class musicians, dancers,
and actors will improvise off of humorous and heart-wrenching stories of missed love, foolish
foibles, heart-break and divorce. Known for their use of SOUNDPAINTING, the sign
language for conducted improvisation, the ensemble creates art in the moment, allowing
intuition, the sounds of the room and audience suggestion to shape what they play.
