PRELUDE 09: A FREE FESTIVAL & SYMPOSIUM OF CONTEMPORARY NYC THEATRE AND PERFORMANCE

Genre: Festival
Presented by The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center, The Graduate Center, CUNY

The sixth-annual PRELUDE Festival & Symposium celebrates the visionaries of NYC's theatre and performance scene. From Wednesday, September 30 through Saturday, October 3, dozens of performances, conversations, and symposia will take place at The Martin E. Segal Theatre. This free event gives audiences an advance look at what will surely be the most talked about performances of the 2009/2010 season and beyond, including legendary performance artist Marina Abramovic, plus The Living Theatre, Radiohole, Jay Scheib, NYC Players, David Michalek, Adrienne Truscott, Erin Courtney, Steve Cuiffo and many more. Curated according to Digital, Poetic, Political, Brocolage, and Hybrid "tracks" that address the form and/or content of the previewed works - PRELUDE 09 places these dynamic artists in conversation with each other at the close of each day. This is a unique opportunity to hear the artists informally discuss how they create their work.  FREE! First come, first served. www.preludenyc.org.
