DAGUERREOTYPE

Genre: Drama
The American Story Project presents a world premiere play by Stephen Aubrey, directed by Jess Chayes

As one of the first celebrated American photographers, Matthew Brady's images defined the Civil War. Now, at the twilight of his life, Matthew must choose between the life he has built and the legacy he wants to leave behind. DAGUERREOTYPE is a fascinating and candid journey into the mind of one of America's unsung artistic pioneers, and the iconic and lasting power of the photograph.

DAGUERREOTYPE is the New York Premiere of the American Story Project. Each of The Story Project's plays strives for honest, powerful expression among the more bizarre channels of the human experience. Each piece tackles difficult, haunting questions, striving not for answers, but for illumination, insight and a journey into the human condition.
