Genre: Drama
by Patrick Marber

A searingly honest and often brutal portrayal of modern love, CLOSER is a comedy-drama about four young Brits whose intermittent couplings lead to deceit and tragedy. Through means both fair and foul, the characters try desperately to reach what Yeats called "the foul rag-and-bone shop of the heart".

CLOSER is the recipient of both the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Foreign Play and the Olivier Award for Best New Play. In 2004, Closer was adapted into an Academy Award-nominated film starring Julia Roberts, Clive Owen, Jude Law, and Natalie Portman, and directed by Mike Nichols.
