Genre: Classical, Musical
by Liesl Tommy

The Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute is pleased to announce Liesl Tommy as guest director for her original production of The Medea Project, which tells the story of 4 different Medeas as a dynamic collage of classic text, dance and music. Haunted by murder, betrayal and the desire for death, Tommy's Medea is a woman in extremis, who in refusing to accept her fate, rails against it with the ferocity of the possessed.

Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, Ms. Tommy studied at Oxford University and received her MFA from Oscar Eustis/Trinity Rep. Recent projects were at The Public Theatre, New York Theater Workshop, Juilliard, The Women's Project, Hartford Stage, the Berkshire Theatre Festival and New York Stage and Film. She was awarded the 2005-2007 NEA/TCG Directors Grant and the 2003-2005 New York Theater Workshop Casting/Directing Fellowship and is a member of The Soho Rep Writer/Director Lab and the Lincoln Center Director's Lab.
