Genre: Drama

House of Blue Leaves takes place on Oct. 4, 1965 when the Pope is coming to New York to try to end the war in Vietnam. Artie Shaughnessy, a native of Queens, wants to change his life. He dreams of a life in Hollywood as a composer instead of being the Central Park Zookeeper he is. At home, his mentally unstable wife, Bananas, has been living in her nightgown for 6 months. His mistress, Bunny, wants to get married and escape to Bel Air. To add to his troubles, his son, Ronnie, is AWOL from the Army; three nuns show up at his apartment in search of a T.V., and a movie starlet drops by for a visit.
