In its continued mission to produce quality theatre on both sides of the Hudson River, The Hudson Exploited Theater Company (HExTC) once again crosses the Hudson to The Lion at Theatre Row Studios with the New York première of Jane Ho written by John Pallotta and directed by Arian Blanco.
Jane Ho is a psychologically penetrating play about the world of a prostitute. Sexy, disturbing, and emotionally moving, it explores the inner workings of the "life." What are they really like behind the mystery of their occupation? To find out, spend an evening with four ladies of the night as they "reveal" the things they tell their pillow, nobody should. This original play was selected by HExTC in 2003 where it was developed and then produced at its residency space, the Park Performing Arts Center's 32nd Street Playhouse. The strong audience response along with a generous matching gift grant from the Ford Foundation spurred HExTC to now produce this NYC premiere. "This process of nurturing, developing, and polishing new plays at our residency space in NJ and then bringing them to such a prestigious venue like Theatre Row signals an important step in legitimizing HExTC's profile as a leading producer of new works," states Artistic Director Adrian Rodriguez, "Jane Ho marks an exciting time for HExTC."
