Dandy Darkly's Myth Mouth!  | Open: 10/14/16 Close: 10/25/16
“New York City’s King of Halloween” (Out Magazine) returns to UNDER St. Marks with his latest smash storytelling show direct from a critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Announcing the New York premiere of Dandy Darkly’s Myth Mouth!

"Storytelling that goes beyond simple tales. Rhythmic, hypnotic and entrancing." ★★★★ Broadway Baby

Dandy Darkly's Myth Mouth! explores themes of religious extremism, deadly dependency and our contemporary worship of media technology via allegorical tales concerning a junkie Persephone, cosmopup Laika, virtual reality obsession and humanity's first artist, Cha-Cha the Caveman. Dandy Darkly cites folklorist Joseph Campbell, recent celebrity deaths, his childhood love of mythology and his own struggles with addiction as influences for crafting Dandy Darkly’s Myth Mouth!

"There isn't a storyteller as engrossing, twisted, or as sequined."
★★★★★ Grumpy Gay Critic

Dandy regales his wondrous tales of humanity and horror alongside a nonstop soundscape of prerecorded music composed by long time collaborators Adam Tendler (piano), Rachel Blumberg (percussion), and Bryce Edwards (bass and guitar). The show is peppered with eclectic sound effects to create a truly immersive storytelling experience. Ian Bjorklund returns as director. Produced in cooperation with Horsetrade Theater and Frigid NY.

"Compelling narratives set in grotesque realms of eerie, alarming detail." ★★★★ The Scotsman

Dandy Darkly is an award winning storyteller, satirist and critically acclaimed cabaret artist -- described as “fantastical fairytale horror, equal parts Tennessee Williams, Edgar Allen Poe and Bruce La Bruce” (Time Out) and “a cross between Pam Ayres, Liberace and Tales from the Crypt.” (The Scotsman) This “decidedly wicked storyteller” (New York Times) is "simply one of the most thoughtful, hilarious and harrowing queer talents at work today." (Scotsgay Magazine).

Dandy Darkly's masterful and mesmerizing style of storytelling has astounded critics and audiences at festivals and theaters across the globe. He is the glittery, ghastly jewel of the East Village with four years of critically acclaimed, satirical solo shows tackling topics such as gun violence, misogyny, gentrification and political correctness. Dandy's delirious delivery shifts seamlessly from camp bitchery into bittersweet poignancy with reflective rumination upon the subtle horrors of modern life.

"Brilliant. Crosses time and space to explore ideas of queer legends of tomorrow." ★★★★★ Scotsgay Magazine

Dandy Darkly's Pussy Panic!  | Open: 02/21/15 Close: 03/06/15
Brooklyn’s lascivious, hilarious showman of supernatural sleaze makes his Frigid Festival debut with his critically acclaimed solo show “Dandy Darkly’s Pussy Panic!” New York City, prepare to PANIC!

"Dandy Darkly is an utterly unique and potentially fatal cocktail of mince and menace that not to be believed... even once he's been seen!" The Villager, 2012

“Dandy Darkly’s Pussy Panic!” is a macabre meditation on the misogynist motifs found within the horror genre, as well as a scathing fuck you to the flippant attitudes displayed by some gay men in reference to women and their bodies. The show was conceived following an infamous encounter at the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe Festival when a young woman incorrectly accused Dandy Darkly of misogyny and “celebrating the murder of women” following his critically acclaimed"Gory Hole!" show.

Dandy Darkly chose to confront such criticism directly and in his own utterly unique way.

“Dandy Darkly’s Pussy Panic!” is a collection of four fiercely feminist (and frightfully funny) fables set to music and performed “with an enthusiasm and energy that would have most people curled up with side cramps on the floor.” NOLA Defender, 2014

  • A young lady’s supernatural genitalia is the obsession of an old boy’s club…
  • A super star celebrity seeks her definitive reinvention, at any cost...
  • An elderly lesbian discovers love and loss via assisted living...
  • A mincing mortician to the Hollywood elite takes his undertaking very seriously...

Since his Stonewall Inn debut in 2010, Dandy Darkly has become a fixture among NYC's eclectic variety, sideshow, burlesque and cabaret stages. Critical response to “Dandy Darkly’s Pussy Panic!” has been outstanding.

“Bedazzling talent! A celebration of our campest, creepiest selves.” Scotsgay Magazine, 2014

“Voguing and zombie dancing. Cattiness, absurdity and gore.” The Edinburgh Reporter, 2014

“Deliciously diverse. Political potency makes it a feminist fiesta.” The Scotsman, 2014

“A searing critique of queer culture. A vagina détente.” The List Magazine, 2014

“Unlike anything else at the Fringe, or indeed elsewhere.” Time Out, 2013
