Broken Fences  | Open: 05/03/13 Close: 05/19/13
When Czar and April buy a home in a black neighborhood on Chicago’s West Side, they find community with Hoody and Dee, who live next door. But can these two these families stay connected without destroying themselves and each other?  It’s crazy, it’s whack. And everybody’s in it, from the skittish best friends from the suburbs, to the militant brother/a barista at Starbucks, and the wild child street kid who can’t keep his pants up or his stash on the DL.  It’s a banging new world…of $7 coffee and $6 cheese snacks.   Cardio Boot Camps and hand-me-downs.  Jacked up taxes and gang tags. It’s the last stand of neighborhood, turf, tradition. It’s Broken Fences, a hilarious, scorching new play about friendship, fear…and all the other possibilities. Produced by Ballybeg, the company behind last year's hit Empanada for a Dream.

Alex Levy directs a cast of eight including Brian Carter*, Krissy Shields*, Clinton Lowe*, Emilio Aquino*, Erika Rose*, Lori Funk*, Scott Aiello, and Benjamin Foronda. *Member, Actors' Equity Association. AEA Showcase.

Empanada For A Dream  | Open: 04/21/12 Close: 04/29/12
Downtown on Allen Street -- Everybody’s blasting – Bacchata. Merengue. Salsa.  Everybody’s cooking – Plantains. Paella. Empanadas.  Boys play Baseball, Football, Skully, Johnny on the Pony.  And this girl – the most beautiful girl – watches from a window. EMPANADA FOR A DREAM is a poignant and entertaining portrait of family and neighborhood – set against the secret that destroys it all.  It’s a story about growing up.  It’s a story about getting out. And coming back -- to one boy’s Lower East Side.

Regarding this project, Producer John Adams says: “This extraordinary piece is in development – in fact, it’s going on to a major Latino Theatre Festival in Chicago this summer. It was Juan who graciously offered to provide us with this, our first show. Ballybeg is proud to be part of the journey of the play and to share it with our audience.”
