Dedicated to an honest expression of the American condition, their actor-driven ensemble explores complex characters of moral ambiguity. Amerissiah  | Open: 11/13/08 Close: 12/07/08
THE AMORALISTS are pleased to announce the world premiere production of AMERISSIAH, written and directed by Derek Ahonen. AMERISSIAH will play a four-week limited engagement at The Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street (Corner of Bond and Lafayette). Performances begin Thursday, November 13 and continue through Sunday, December 7. Opening Night is Monday, November 17 (8 p.m.). Press are invited November 15, 16, 17.

Barry Ricewater, a terminally ill man convinced he is God, returns to the apartment of his childhood. His degenerate family descends on him to pay their last respects. They all think he is crazy until the gathering is interrupted by an unlikely disciple. Only through Barry's divine intervention can the crooked Ricewater clan be saved.

Prepare yourself for Amerissiah, a new comedy about America and the thin line between faith and insanity, ambition and corruption.

Riding high from their last two wildly successful productions of Happy In The Poorhouse and The Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side, The Amoralists present the Off-Broadway Premiere of Amerissiah, written and directed by Derek Ahonen.

Something beyond comprehension is happening in a Marble Hill, Bronx apartment. Barry Ricewater, a perfectly healthy 37-year-old businessman is purposefully dying of a treatable disease. He’s become convinced that he’s God and must return to heaven to save his corrupt family from prison. The Ricewater clan thinks that he’s crazy . . . until a slew of strange, supernatural phenomena begin to occur. Amerissiah is a new American ghost story about the thin line between ambition and corruption, faith and insanity.

The cast includes William Apps, Selene Berreta, Jennifer Fouche, James Kautz, Nick Lawson, Sarah Lemp, Matthew Pilieci, Aysha Quinn and George Walsh.
