In Ovid's tale, Pygmalion falls in love with a statue of his own creation, Galatea. In this smart, sexy modern-day tale, Pygmalion is a sculptor whose greatest desire is to capture beauty so that its transcendence can be maintained beyond a fleeting moment. Through a chance encounter in Times Square, he meets his Galatea: a street performer who creates and destroys her human statues each day. Her greatest desire is to be ravaged by the speed of life as vivid as the universe can offer. The two opposite souls are the antithesis of each other. This play is the flash of energy and oblivion that occurs when, drawn by something deep within themselves, they collide and join. Part of the 11th Annual New York International Fringe Festival.
