Set in 1938 Chicago, ROSE COLORED GLASS takes place in the back rooms of Lady O'Riley's (Anita Keal) Pub and Rose Fleishman's (Emily Zacharias) delicatessen. Their disparate worlds, separated by much more than the alley between their kitchens, are about to collide. Peg O'Riley, (Brianne Moncrief) the 13-year-old granddaughter of Lady, has grown determined that these two very different women will become friends, but it is not until they become involved in the same cause that their friendship has a chance to bloom. In a series of stunning flashbacks, Peg, now older, remembers the moving story of how Lady and Rose formed a united front to fight American apathy and bureaucracy in a wild attempt to get Rose's nephew out of Europe before the war.
ROSE COLORED GLASS features Anita Keal, who was last seen in NYC as BESSIE in "From Door To Door" at the Westside Theatre. Her luminous career ranges from Broadway (M Butterfly) to regional theatre (George St, Syracuse, Center Stage, etc) to film (latest in Enchanted) and television. Emily Zacharias has appeared on Broadway numerous times, most recently in Jekyll & Hyde, and has worked with Hal Prince, Joe Mantello, Mike Nichols. She is a founding member of the Workshop Theater Company. Newcomer Brianne Moncrief, a graduate of Fordham University, also joins the cast.
