Set in Tehran, Iran, The Secret War is a fast-paced multimedia theatrical experience that explores the battle between good and evil, knowledge and ignorance, ancient mythology and modern technology and mystical beauty and corporate greed. The play contrasts ancient Persian rituals with a modern portrayal of Tehran, where a sinister warlord plots to unleash a Jihad-inducing methamphetamine. Can his plan be stopped or will fundamentalism win out?
Performances of The Secret War are followed by a nightlong line-up of diverse musical acts, ranging from traditional Persian to hip hop. Headliners for the musical festival include lauded Persian folk music group Amir Vahab and the Soroosh Ensemble, Philadelphia's hottest underground band Lost Children of Babylon, and the Akoya Afrobeat Ensemble, featuring singer Kaleta (Fela Kuti and the Egypt 80).
