Laura Thies

A native of Germany, Laura is a graduate of Stanstead College in Canada.  She received a BFA in Musical Theater and an MA in Media Studies, and will receive a second MA in International Affairs in May 2008, all from the New School.

Laura recently completed the short film An Angel; she previously directed the video shorts Jump Start and Albert and Mandy, both of which have screened at festivals across the U.S.  She recently wrote and directed two commercials for the German shoe company Nat-2.  Other directing credits include the educational video Street Smarts for incoming New School students; the documentary Rebuilding Biloxi, and the music video Forever Ends Today.

Laura was mostly recently seen on stage as the Interviewer (lead) in Silver Light Productions' presentation of  When the World Was Green and as an Iraqi woman in The Vagina Monologues at the New School.
