Anna Gutto

Is currently playing the character of TRINE in Oslo Elsewhere´s US premiere of Jon Fosse’s Sa Ka La at Theaters at 45 Bleecker  (running until September 27).  Other New York credits include The Workroom (dir. Moni Yakim), The Young Woman in Fosse’s US debut Night Sings Its Songs, Boys’ Life, The Physics Project, After the Fall, Under Milk Wood and Rosmersholm (as REBECCA WEST).  Before coming to New York she worked professionally at major theaters in Norway with award-winning actors and directors such as Hilda Hellwiig, Stein Winge, Bjørn Sundquist and Sven Nordin.  Her European credits include SOLVEIG in Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt, Harold Pinter’s The Lover, LADY ANNE in Richard III, The Merchant of Venice, The Taming of the Shrew, and the one woman show Fidel’s Island.   She recently finished shooting the independent feature Tom and Valkyrie, where she played the female protagonist, VALKYRIE.  Her other film credits include Gone with the Woman (w. Peter Stormare.  Dir. Petter Næss.  Contender for a nomination in the category for Best Foreign Language Film, 2008 Academy Awards), I’m Afraid I am Hitler (as EVA BRAUN),  Liliana.Rebecca, Poise, Anniversary (Best Ensemble Award) and Shutterbug.  Anna has also written essays for theatrical publications, among them the essay Rebecca West 2006 for the book Ibsen’s Women.  Look out for her and the multimedia-integrated play IN SECURITY premiering at 3 Legged Dog in April 2009.
