The Lost Jazz Shrines series is dedicated to bringing legendary New York City jazz clubs back into the consciousness of the world with a thorough remembrance and celebration. This season continues to look at 52nd Street . This season celebrates the great voices of the 52nd Street era. Billy Eckstine and Sarah Vaughan were two legendary "bridge" figures between the swing era and the modern jazz, or bebop, era. Sarah Vaughan was the singer in Eckstine's legendary big band which featured such modern jazz pioneers as Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie "Bird" Parker, and Art Blakey among many others.
