Genre: Kids
by Rudyard Kipling, adapation by Monica Flory, directed by David A. Miller

The lush sounds and sights of the jungle are evoked in ways that are uniquely theatrical. Defiant and proud Mowgli, a boy raised by wolves, is coming of age in the jungle-a place where he both does and does not fit in. Bumbling Baloo the bear (played by artistic director Stephen Michael Rondel,) slick Bagheera the panther, and wise Kaa the snake teach Mowgli the laws of the jungle through story and song. When Mowgli learns that it is his destiny to battle the ferocious tiger Shere Khan, he is faced with the challenge of a lifetime. Will he defeat Shere Khan to protect his community, or will he retreat to the village? Join us for this exciting adventure in which differences are celebrated and imagination runs wild!

Strongly recommended for ages 6 and UP. INFANTS WILL NOT BE ADMITTED

About the Company: New Acting Company

Created and founded in 2000 by Artistic Director, Stephen Michael Rondel, the New Acting Company's mission is to use the energy of live performance (both onstage and in class) allowing students to face issues of responsibility, commitment, trust, friendship, teamwork, reading comprehension, self-esteem, risk and success.

We pride ourselves in offering children, teens and adults the opportunity to study, rehearse and perform challenging texts in our professional, state of-the-arts 100 seat theater. Our expectations are high. Students are consistently challenged to "rise to the occasion," and at the same time we accept that live theater is a fickle art form, fraught with risks and surprises. We believe it is this unexpected aspect of live performance that has the unique ability to lift our students up with pride, to reveal skills which they were not aware of and to change (or at least point out) the inaccuracy of their perceived limitations.

Our annual professional productions feature classic plays, fairytales and original adaptations of children's literature guaranteed to engage the adults in the audience as thoroughly as the children.

Most importantly of all, The New Acting Company strives to be a fun, safe and creative place for children, teens and adults to express themselves. We pride ourselves in bringing top-quality family theater to the heart of Greenwich Village.
