Bouffon Glass Menajoree  | Open: 11/30/12 Close: 12/16/12
Gentlemen callers beware!  The Wingfields are crawling back out of your nightmares for a limited return engagement during the Brick Theater’s 10 Year Retrospective.  Like a recurring sore, the NYIT-Award winning Bouffon Glass Menajoree is back after their critically-acclaimed runs in New York and the Dublin Fringe Festival.  Amanda , Tom, and Laura plume their nest with broken glass, twisted morals, and perverted minds.  Each night a new audience member plays the role of Jim, the gentlemen caller.  The Wingfields and the Brick Theater claim no responsibility for hurt feelings and offended sentiments.    Why would anyone do this to an American Masterpiece?

 “Don't Miss....Hilarious”- Time Out NY

"Wickedly subversive and electrifyingly interactive parody.” - Peter Crawley, The Irish Times

"Riotous!   Surely there’s another star around here?” - Harry Browne, Irish Theatre Magazine

Winner of NY Innovative Theatre Awards, 2007 Outstanding Overall Production

What can I expect?  The Wingfield apartment is composed of a broken dream catcher, woven from the clotheslines of this American family's dirty laundry, washed with the antiquated colors of a long forgotten photograph.   These three bouffons invite you to be a fly on the wall as they attempt to lure a gentleman caller for their precious Laura.   Audiences take heed you might just be the one to get caught in their wickedly funny web!

What is bouffon? These deformed anti-clowns subversively take the piss out of everyone and everything.   Grotesque in nature, often physical deformed, the bouffon is the outcast shunned by society and told to live outside the village.   On rare occasions, they are asked to perform for the pleasure of those who previously persecuted them.   On these occasions. the bouffons willingly accept.  (What choice do they have?  Perform or be killed?) Thus, these hideous creatures enter the circle of society once more, light on their feet, eternally smiling with hateful eyes.   Charming, entertaining and smart they plan to take the piss out of you all!

Tennessee Williams is spinning in his grave!    In 2006 Bouffon Glass Menajoree premiered in the NY Clown Theatre Festival and continued multiple extensions and a full run at The Brick Theater.   After being nominated for 4 NY Innovative Theatre Awards, and winning the Outstanding Overall Production, they returned to theNY Clown Theatre Festival in 2007 a summer run at The Bleeker Street Theatre in NYC, and went on to perform to sold out houses with critical acclaim in the Minnesota Fringe Festival, The Catskills New Works Festival,  and the Dublin Fringe Festival and they return now for a limited engagement in The Brick Theater's 10 year Retrospective!   www.BouffonGlassMenajoree.com
