BARBARA MARTINEZ, dancer and singer, has been performing since childhood, singing in The Metropolitan Opera Children's Chorus, and appearing in theater, feature film, and television. She was born in Venezuela to a family of artists, including singer/actresses Libertad Lamarque and Morenita Rey. More recently, Ms. Martínez performed in Zeffirelli’s productions of Carmen and La Traviata at the Metropolitan Opera, sang for Pilar Rioja at El Repertorio Español, and appeared as soloist for a World Music Institute production at Town Hall. She performs and tours regularly with Pasion Flamenca, Flamenco Sepharad, Pasion y Arte, Gazpacho Andalu, Andrea del Conte Danza Espana, Sol y Sombra, and Oscar Valero Dance Company. Ms. Martinez, an honors graduate of Brown University, received the Cristina Heeren Foundation 2008 scholarship for the study of flamenco song in Sevilla.
